Senator Rivera and Assembly Member Castro Hosted Job Fair for Bronxites

Bronx, NY – Senator Gustavo Rivera (D, WF-Bronx) and Assemblyman Nelson L. Castro (D-Bronx) hosted a job fair Friday, November 4th from 9:30am to 1:30pm at the Bronx Library Center at 310 E. Kingsbridge Rd. Last Friday's Job Fair was organized in collaboration with the NYS Department of Labor and the Bronx Women’s Resource Center.
"We had tremendous turnout, with over 1000 individuals seeking work attending the job fair on Friday," said Senator Rivera. "This turnout only further underscores the need for elected officials to do what we can to help spur economic growth and to help connect local businesses looking to hire with Bronxites looking for employment."
With unemployment hovering at 14%, the Bronx has the highest unemployment rate of all five boroughs. Friday’s job fair included over 20 employers, looking to fill over 200 jobs.
Employers and job training programs that were present on Friday include: Aflac, Albert Einstein, Best Choice Home Healthcare, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, Compassionate Care Hospice, Corinthian Medical IPA, FEDEX, Food Bank, HHH Continuum of Care, Home Depot, Jewish Home Lifecare, MTA- Metro North Railroad, United Healthcare Community Plan, SoBRO, Morton Williams, ASA College, US Customs and Border Patrol, New York Life, NEW- Non Traditional Employment for Women, Sears, St. Barnabas Hospital and the Wyndham Garden Hotel.
