St. Barnabas Groundbreaking
Gustavo Rivera
June 30, 2011
Senator Gustavo Rivera (D, WF-Bronx) proudly joined St. Barnabas staff and community leaders for the St. Barnabas Hospital garage groundbreaking ceremony. Senator Rivera joined St. Barnabas President Scott Cooper, President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation Seth Pinsky, State Senator Jeff Klein and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. to celebrate the beginning of this important construction project that has been made possible because of funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
"The ground-breaking today represents the growth of an important institution in our Northwest Bronx – St. Barnabas hospital," said Senator Rivera. This project shows the relevance of funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. In this case, building this much-needed garage is creating good jobs in the Bronx, as well as helping St. Barnabas to continue to grow their community outreach efforts as well as provide better and more efficient care for their patients. I want to congratulate St. Barnabas and their President, Scott Cooper, for getting this construction project off the ground and thank the wonderful staff of St. Barnabas for being wonderful partners in the Bronx CAN Health Initiative as well as generous and productive neighbors here in the Bronx."
