Senator Jack M. Martins was the guest speaker at a recent meeting of the Plandome Heights Civic Association. Senator Martins is working with the association in trying to move along a project that addresses traffic calming on Plandome Road as part of the Safe Routes to School program, which is designed to help to implementing transporation projects that improve safety. A grant, announced in 2008 to to be administered to the Town of North Hempstead, has yet to be dispersed because of lack of the proper paperwork. However, after Senator Martins took office at the beginning of this year, he looked into what steps need to be taken to move the grant forward.
