Hurricane Irene may bring our area some rain and wind. We don’t know yet. But it’s wise to plan ahead.
In preparation for the potential impact of Hurricane Irene, Governor Cuomo has declared a state of emergency in New York. A state of emergency enables New York to use state resources to assist local governments more effectively and quickly, allows the state to activate the national "Emergency Management Assistance Compact" to bring in help from out of state, and enables New York to access key federal resources earlier in anticipation of an emergency.
Following this week’s earthquake and in preparation of Hurricane Irene, I want to provide you with some information on how to best prepare in the event a natural disaster should hit upstate New York. Planning ahead and staying informed are the best ways to keep your family and property safe. Please take a moment to review the links below and keep it handy in the event of an emergency.
Sincerely, James L. Seward
State Senator – 51st District
