Central Islip, N.Y. – State Senator Lee M. Zeldin (R, C, I- Shirley) held the second meeting of the Blue Ribbon “John P. Jennings Veterans’ Advisory Panel” this past Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at the Touro Law Center in Central Islip.
The panel was named in honor of Infantryman John P. Jennings, a Suffolk County resident who passed away on January 10, 2011. John’s long struggle with the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) followed a deployment to Iraq from September 2004 to October 2005. This past February, Zeldin presented Jennings’ family with the New York State Liberty Medal, the highest award given by the New York State Senate for citizenry.
Senator Zeldin (above center), formed the Panel to study how New York State can better assist military veterans with diagnosis and treatment of PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other veterans’ initiatives.
