The newly created Spending and Government Efficiency Commission, or SAGE Commission, is inviting public input on ways to cut government waste and smarten up about state spending.
We should take every advantage of the opportunity.
The SAGE Commission is charged with leading the first major overhaul of the state bureaucracy since the late 1920s -- which, from where I stand, makes it the No. 1 government reform effort underway in New York State today.

![I was highly critical of Governor Cuomo for vetoing a plan to achieve this very same mandate relief in 2016. So I look forward to seeing the governor’s plan and enacting a law this year to get county governments and local property taxpayers out from under this unfunded state mandate.
