July 30, 2012
Celebrating his 101st birthday, Greenburgh resident Nathaniel Rose received a proclamation from Senator Stewart-Cousins this week, recognizing his extraordinary life. Known to his many friends as Ned, Mr. Rose had a long and distinguished career in a variety of professions. As a teenager, he worked as a courier on Wall Street before landing a job in the New York City District Attorney's office in 1929. He then went on to own a successful photography studio which he sold in the late 1950s. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Rose graduated from NYU Business School and began a thirty-year career in finance. A resident of Greenburgh for over three decades, Ned Rose was a member of the Friars Club and has many fond memories of his friends Henny Youngman, Milton Berle, Frank Sinatra and Sid Caesar.
Senator Stewart-Cousins presented the proclamation to Ned at his birthday party on July 27 at the Theodore Young Community Center.
