Senator Volunteers at JCY Summer Reading Buddies

Senator Stewart-Cousins volunteered as a guest reader at the Jewish Council of Yonkers' (JCY)summer reading buddies program at the Yonkers Riverfront Library on July 24. The Senator read a story to two sisters attending elementary school in Yonkers, and helped the girls write their own story when they finished reading. The JCY Summer Reading Buddies Program pairs volunteer readers with Yonkers children from 10-12 every Tuesday and Wednesday. About 350 children per session attend the program in Yonkers.
