Randi Bregman is the executive director at Vera House, Incorporated, a not-for-profit agency that focuses on serving those affected by domestic and sexual violence. In 1990, she joined the agency as coordinator of the Syracuse-Area Domestic Violence Coalition. Since 2001, Ms. Bregman has served as executive director, with responsibility for administration and financial management, supervision of staff , fundraising and fund development, community education, and professional training and program development.
Ms. Bregman also serves as co-chair of the Syracuse-Area Domestic and Sexual Violence Coalition, providing leadership to a broad community coalition dedicated to victim safety and off ender accountability. She is the chair of the Human Services Leadership Council of Central New York and serves on the NYS Office of Victim Services Advisory Council, the NYS Coalition Against Sexual Assault Policy Committee and the board of the Food Bank of Central New York.
In addition, Ms. Bregman has facilitated support groups for women who have experienced abuse and provided counseling and advocacy for individuals affected by domestic and sexual violence. She is a compassionate woman who continues to answer Vera House’s 24-hour domestic violence/sexual assault hotline.
Ms. Bregman developed a three-credit master’s degree-level course in family violence, which she has taught at Syracuse University’s School of Social Work, her alma mater.
Because of her efforts and dedication, Ms. Bregman has received numerous awards in recognition of her work, including the Social Justice Award and Distinguished Alumna Award from the Syracuse University School of Social Work, BIZEVENTZ Non-Profit Executive of the Year, the District Attorney’s Award through the District Attorney’s Advisory Council and the Post-Standard Achievement Award.
