MEDIA ADVISORY---NYS SENATOR ERIC ADAMS AND ASSEMBLY MEMBER KARIM CAMARA CALLED ON CITY OFFICIALS TO POSTPONE SUNDAY’S NYC MARATHON IF ELECTRICITY IS NOT RESTORED IN THE 5 BOROUGHS
New York State Senator Eric Adams and Assembly Member Karim Camara called on Mayor Bloomberg to postpone the NYC Marathon if electricity cannot be restored in the five boroughs by 8:00pm Friday, November 2.
Senator Adams states. “After touring the borough of Brooklyn for the last four days, it is inappropriate to place an additional strain on city public service employees by holding an event that calls for more manpower. Too many of the communities that the runners will pass through have gone several days without electricity. The entire focus of New York City’s sources must be directed to the race to bring electricity to those New Yorkers.”
Assemblymember Karim Camara states: “We should postpone athletic pursuits as we are still coping with the loss of human life. It is not appropriate.”
