Senator Eric Adams joined TWU Local 100 in calling on the MTA to expedite the Installation of Bus Partitions
Brooklyn, NY—Senator Eric Adams joined TWU Local 100 leadership in a press conference in front of Jackie Gleason Bus Depot located in Sunset Park.
“It is unacceptable that as of October 16th, there have only been 679 partitions installed out of the MTA’s 7,000-bus fleet,” said TWU Local 100 President John Samuelsen. “The MTA is responsible for providing a safe work environment for our members, who are subject to physical assaults, spitting, menacing, harassment, and more as they carry out their duty to the riding public.”
"The safety and security of public transportation workers are vital,” said Senator Eric Adams. “Bus drivers are entrusted to safely transport the general public. Yet, bus drivers are some of the most vulnerable workers within our public transportation system. The installation of partitions and cameras on City buses is a step in the right direction to provide the much needed safety and security for our bus drivers."
