Year: 2012
Specialist Jaroslaw “Jerry” Kril served in Company C, 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry, First Infantry Division of the United States Army. He fought in the Vietnam War. For his outstanding service, Jerry was awarded the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, and received three air medals for performing over one hundred helicopter air assaults. He received an Honorable Discharge in January 19, 1970.
Jerry fought hard for his country, and to this day continues to have a strong presence in the community, particularly in the area of veteran affairs. He is a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Catholic War Veterans, The Disabled American Veterans, and The Ukrainian American Veterans. In addition, he is a board member for Community Board 1 Queens, Astoria Kiwanis, Astoria Civic Association, Taminent Regular Democratic Club, and the Astoria Historical Association.
Jerry is a model citizen, a hard working member o f the western Queens community, and a devoted father and husband.
