Catherine “Kate” Kingsley’s personal and professional life is a profile in generosity. Ms. Kingsley views the needs and concerns of her neighbors and community as opportunities to lend her time ,care, and talent.
A native of Geneseo, Ms. Kingsley began volunteering with Camp Good Days and Special Times in 1980, to assist children diagnosed with cancer. Over the next 26 years, she graduated from volunteer to board member to employee. Since leaving Camp Good Days in 2007, Ms. Kingsley has devoted her time mentoring colleagues as they established other camps for afflicted children and has worked tirelessly to raise cancer awareness. She has also participated in Relay for Life, and the Teresa House Hospice Comfort Care Walk. Both events honor the memory of her brother, Bob, and other loved ones lost to cancer.
Ms. Kingsley is also one of the original members of the Livingston County Medical Reserve Corps. The Corps, created after September 11th, is part of a national initiative consisting of medical and non-medical community members who are willing to assist their neighbors in times of disaster or with ongoing public health initiatives.
Ms. Kingsley is the consummate volunteer and advocate. The Livingston County Area Chamber of Commerce, the Upstate New York Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society, local schools, churches, and many other charities and organizations have all benefited from Ms. Kingsley’s time, expertise and contributions.
She is the proud recipient of service awards for her work with Chances and Changes, a not-for-profit organization serving victims of domestic violence in Livingston County, and was a member of the Livingston County Domestic Violence Consortium.
Ms. Kingsley’s commitment and service have benefitted countless members of her community. As she continues to give selflessly, she remains an inspiration.
