Each year, the New York State Senate honors a select group of women from across New York who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of others, enriching their communities and strengthening our state. This year, I had the privilege of naming East Midtown Plaza resident Jeanne S. Poindexter, Ph.D., a fierce advocate for the preservation of New York’s limited equity, affordable co-op apartment buildings, Woman of Distinction from the 29th State Senate District. Jeanne is also a renowned research scientist who dedicated her career to the education of undergraduate students in the biological sciences. On May 15, she travelled to Albany to take part in an official celebration at which she and other extraordinary women from across our State were recognized for their invaluable contributions to their communities. Please see the State Senate's web page about her award, which was on display in the lobby of the New York State Legislative Office Building, and please join me in congratulating Jeanne on this much-deserved honor.
