Since it was launched in October 2011, New York State's "Jobs Express" website has helped more than 59,000 citizens find work through its extensive online postings.

Jobs Express currently has more than 74,000 job openings available at more than 4,600 employers across New York -- including employers throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes region.

It's worth a look.

Senator O'Mara was joined in 2016 by Food Bank of the Southern Tier President Natasha Thompson and Senator Fred Akshar to urge the enactment of the "Farm to Food Bank" legislation. They are joining forces again this year to fight for the legislation's enactment after Governor Cuomo vetoed the measure last year.

"Heroin and opioid abuse is devastating lives in Penn Yan, Hornell, Ithaca, Elmira and many other communities throughout the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes regions, and statewide. Local input will remain the driving force behind the actions we take to strengthen the state-local partnership critical to putting in place the most effective strategy of law enforcement, awareness and education, and treatment and prevention," said Senator O'Mara, who sponsored a task force forum in Penn Yan last year.
