Caribbean-American Heritage is part of the story of America. In the month of June, let's take the opportunity to celebrate and learn about the contributions that Caribbean-Americans have made to our country and state, and enjoy the variety of culture, music, literature and food of the Caribbean.
June was adopted by Congress as Caribbean-American Heritage Month on February 14, 2006 recognizing the significance of Caribbean-Americans and their descendants on the history and culture of the United States. Influential Caribbean-Americans include founding father Alexander Hamilton, U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, and actor Sidney Poitier.
