It's an exciting day at the Capitol! The NY Women's Equality Coalition held a rally at the West Capitol Park in Albany, NY on Tuesday, June 4th starting at noon with special guest speaker, Cynthia Nixon, to let the Legislators know that the time is NOW to pass Governor Cuomo's 10-Point Plan for Women's Equality.
At the rally, Democratic Conference Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins said shortly after getting the crowd excited, "My leadership broke a glass ceiling. For the first time in the history of this progressive State, a woman was elected to be the leader. But, we know, it can't be the last time. We know that the only honor in being the first is to open the door to let others through.
"So, what we're doing here is a natural progression. We are, all of us, by supporting the 10-Point Agenda, we are opening a door that will allow not only us to walk through with our children, our families, and everyone who understands that inequality will not in New York or in this country. We are setting the stage and saying we will break glass ceilings, we will open doors, we will continue to walk through until every single person has equality in New York State."
