Senator Betty Little is pictured with Michael and Jen Parker at the Essex County Fair on Friday, August 2, 2013. The fair celebrated its 165th anniversary, welcoming families and tourists for another great year celebrating Adirondack agricultural heritage with lots of fun and food for all to enjoy.
The Parker Family Maple Farm operated a booth, which included an evaporator on display that is used to produce maple syrup and a wide selection of products, including syrup, candy and ice cream. The Parker Family Maple Farm is a family owned and operated business. In 1884, Adolphus & Amelia Parker bought an acre of land and established their home in West Chazy. In 1889, they bought an adjoining 60 acres and started a dairy farm and maple sugaring operation.
The business is now owned by Adolphus & Amelia's grandson, Earl Parker. The operation has grown to include 700 acres of land, a 45 cow dairy farm, an 18,000 tap maple operation, a gift shop, and the 5th generation of Parkers.
