Senator Young recently stopped by a retirement party for Cristie Herbst, the editor of The Post-Journal in Jamestown.
Cristie Herbst began her career at The Post-Journal in 1972. She quickly worked her way through roles of increasing responsibility including a variety of reporting roles, Editor of the City and Region Desk and eventually Editor in 1982, a position she held until her retirement.
Newspaper journalism has changed dramatically in recent decades, especially with the increasing pace of technological change and Cristie Herbst has been an innovator in leading The Post-Journal into the digital age, transforming it into a multimedia source of information and news.
Cristie Herbst serves her community by volunteering her time and talents in many ways. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the WCA Foundation, which supports the health care initiatives of WCA Hospital. Her record of community service includes playing a vital role in the creation of Hospice Chautauqua County and serving on both the Board of Directors and the Executive Board for the Chautauqua Region Community Foundation
