Senator Skelos’ Hurricane Safety Tips
Dean G. Skelos
June 3, 2013
As we enter another hurricane season on Long Island, it is important to make sure that you and your family are prepared in the event another storm strikes our area. As we learned during Hurricane Sandy, planning ahead can protect more than your property – it can help save lives.
That's why I have put together a Hurricane Safety Checklist for you and your family. This brochure contains a list of things that will help you construct a hurricane preparedness kit. You can find many of these items in your home already. Although this is a general hurricane kit list, you should keep in mind any of your family’s particular needs as you prepare. To view and print the Hurricane Safety Checklist click here.
For those still reeling from the effects of Hurricane Sandy, I encourage you to visitwww.nysandyhelp.ny.gov to learn what state and federal programs may help you and your loved ones continue your recovery. Some of the available programs are the Recreate NY Smart Home Program, the State of New York Small Business Storm Recovery Program, the Recreate NY Multi-Family Housing Mitigation/Elevation Grant Program, and many more.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my District Office in Rockville Centre anytime at (516) 766-8383 or via e-mail at skelos@nysenate.gov.
Please don’t wait until the last minute to get ready. Start planning now!
