Dear Constituents:
Our summer vacations are beginning, taking advantage of pleasant weather and longer daylight hours. Therefore, ever since 1985, July has been called Park and Recreation Month.
Every July for the past twenty-eight years, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) has encouraged U.S. recreation facilities and parks to commence their summer programs, encourage outdoor recreation, and make their venues successful hubs for community activity.
According to the NRPA, July is a great time to highlight all the many valuable benefits you bring to your neighborhood – from health and wellness to nature to community spirit and social equity. During Park and Recreation Month, let's start talking about the positive role parks and recreation has in our lives!
