NY State of Health: Getting Started with the New, More Affordable Health Plan
Eric Adams
October 8, 2013
Under the federal Affordable Health Act, New York has decided to set up its own marketplace and debuted NY State of Health (NYSOH) on October 1st, an organized marketplace designed to help people comparison shop for and enroll in affordable health insurance coverage. NYSOH allows visitors compare costs, determine eligibility, evaluate insurance options, and purchase health insurance online, in person, and by mail, and will also tell applicants what financial assistance is available to them when buying coverage through the marketplace. Starting October 1, applicants will be able to purchase insurance through NYSOH, with coverage effective as early as January 1, 2014.
This new health insurance marketplace makes finding the right health insurance easier and will go a long way toward the goal of reducing the cost of healthcare coverage for every New Yorker. For more information about the NYSOH marketplace, please visit the NY State of Health website, map of plans in NY State of Health or view one of the printable PDF documents below.
