Senator Eric Adams and Civil rights attorney Norman Siegel brought forward on Sunday another black man accused of using a fraudulent credit card at a high-end Manhattan department store, who was then held and released by police.
The young man detailed his account of the stop, which took place in April after he made a purchase at a Macy’s store. This week, another young black man announced a suit against the City after he too was accused of fraud outside a Barneys store and held by police in April.
Senator Adams and Siegel called on the NYPD to explain the extent of its retail surveillance program on Sunday, and asked for any other men and women who have been stopped to come forward.
