Senator Jack M. Martins attended a celebration a Winthrop University Hospital to mark the structural steel for the hospital's new research center being built in Mineola, which will focus on diabetes and obesity.
“It's a great day for Mineola and for Winthrop-University Hospital,” Senator Martins said. “At a time when diabetes and obesity are reaching epidemic proportions, this new state-of-the-art research facility will help lead the battle against them while training the next generation of physicians. Thanks to Winthrop for this great facility and the hundreds of construction and post construction research jobs it brings to our community.”
