State Senator Jack M. Martins addressed the 20th anniversary of the Sewanhaka Central High School District Model UN held at Carey High School this past week. Conference participants come from Carey, Elmont Memorial, Floral Park Memorial, New Hyde Park and Sewanhaka High Schools. The Model UN program debated issues ranging from agriculture, drug policy, historical issues and current events. Senator Martins opened the conference with a speech discussing current affairs and their impact on the United States. He also presented Model UN officers with a Senate Proclamation to commemorate the conference. Accepting the Proclamation from Senator Martins are Daniel Alohan and Billy Rothwell.
