New York State IDC Day Care Report

The IDC released a new, investigative report today revealing the lackluster state of day care centers across New York. In preparing the report, the IDC examined on-site inspection reports of over 1,500 day care centers statewide.
The inspections, which are regularly conducted by the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS), revealed that hundreds of day care centers across New York have accrued multiple violations over the past 24 months, with little or no enforcement by OCFS.
The IDC also discovered that many of the worst day care centers—including several who have placed children in “imminent danger”—are not being held accountable for putting their children at risk. These centers continue to operate without facing any enforcement action by OCFS.
