Citizenship Workshop in Brooklyn

Please pass this information on if you know of families in our school community interested in applying for citizenship status.

Parents who are legal permanent residents (or green card holders) and eligible for naturalization can begin the application process to become U.S. citizens. The session is free and will provide immigration information, assistance and financing options to eligible parents.

By helping the parents in our community naturalize, their children may derive citizenship at no additional cost if they are under the age of 18 and meet certain requirements. As you may know, for students that become U.S. Citizens, there are additional opportunities for scholarships, financial aid, and student loans as they apply for college. There is also a microloan opportunity with free financial counseling available to help parents who cannot afford the $680 United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) filing fee or who do not qualify for the fee waiver.
