Rochester Academy Charter School administrators, parents, and students visited Albany on Tuesday, February 5th for Charter School Advocacy Day. RACS met with New York State congressmen and women to celebrate the successes of New York State Charter Schools, and specifically Rochester Academy Charter School. Senator Joe Robach also took some time out of his day to speak with Rochester Academy. Some key points from Charter School Advocacy Day include:
• 75,000 students are enrolled in 209 New York State Charter Schools
• More than 52,900 students are on waiting lists for New York State Charter Schools
• 84% of Charter Schools statewide are exceeding the average Math proficiency of their local district
• 78% of Charter Schools statewide are exceeding the English Language Arts proficiency of their local district
• Rochester Academy Charter School’s 2011-12 graduation rate was 88% and college acceptance was 100%
• Rochester Academy Charter School has outperformed the district in ELA and mathematics proficiency for the 2011-12 school year
