Stony Brook Children’s Hospital opened a Ronald McDonald Family Room Program to provide support for families of more than 7,000 children who are hospitalized each year at Suffolk County’s only children’s hospital. Located on the Pediatric Unit, the room will provide families with a place to relax with many of the comforts of home, including a kitchen, dining area, sitting area with flat-screen TV, showers and lockers, and laundry facilities. Ronald McDonald House of Long Island will also provide a van to transport families to airports, doctors’ appointments and drug stores.
The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island is the 100th House of over 300 Ronald McDonald House programs worldwide. Located in New Hyde Park, NY, the House accommodates families in a warm and supportive environment. For over 26 years, RMH-LI has been a home-away-from-home for over 18,000 families in the United States and more than 80 countries around the world who are dealing with the pain of having a child undergoing medical treatment at nearby hospitals.
