Senator Lee Zeldin (R, C, I—Shirley) joined with the New York Sportfishing Federation, Recreational Fishing Alliance, New York Fishing Tackle Trade Association and Captree Boatmen's Association today to sponsor "Teach a Kid to Fish" at Captree State Park. Nearly forty area children participated in the event where they were given a hands-on lesson in fishing basics and safety.
“Whether for work or play, fishing has long been a cornerstone of Long Island’s culture and economy,” said Senator Zeldin. “By sharing the gift of fishing with the youngest members of our community and inspiring an interest early on, we are ensuring the continuation of that legacy for generations to come.”
