(Albany, NY) - Senator Malcolm A. Smith (D-Hollis) met with the Women's Equality Agenda (WEA) in Albany to discuss the proposed Women's Equality Act.
The legislation would prevent salary inequities, end sexual harassment in the workplace, strengthen laws against human trafficking and protect a woman's freedom of choice, among other provisions.
"Passage of the Women's Equality Act would allow businesses in New York State to prosper, while improving the workplace for women, allowing them to get better jobs, equal pay and opportunities for advancement," Smith said. "This legislation sends a clear message that women are important to this state and that protecting them is not only our duty, but our priority."
