Albany, N.Y., March 12—State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats) congratulated Aaron Hutchinson of Hornell, who was among the adult education students from across New York State honored on Wednesday, March 6th by the New York Association for Continuing/Community Education (NYACCE).

The NYACCE is the professional organization representing adult education professionals statewide.  As part of the organization’s 30th Annual Student of the Year Awards and Legislative Event in Albany, Hutchinson, representing the Greater Southern Tier (GST) BOCES, received a “Student of the Year 2013” award.

“This recognition is a real tribute to Aaron’s strength and optimism,” O’Mara said.  “She has recognized the powerful difference that education makes to a fuller, more successful and more hopeful life.  She’s a true inspiration to her classmates, and a great source of pride to the administration and staff of the Greater Southern Tier BOCES."

Hutchinson entered the Adult Literacy program at GST BOCES in April 2012 and proudly earned her high school equivalency diploma last July.  She plans to continue her education.

Aaron was nominated for the NYACCE award by Nicole Elston, Adult Literacy Coordinator at GST BOCES.
