Senator Stavisky Celebrates 100th Birthday of Gertrude Schneider, Local Champion of the Jewish Community

Whitestone, NY—Senator Toby Ann Stavisky (D-Flushing) joined the Whitestone Hebrew Centre to celebrate the 100th birthday of Gertrude Schneider, a longtime supporter and champion of the Jewish community in Queens.
Senator Stavisky presented Mrs. Schneider with a proclamation that honored her many achievements. Mrs. Schneider is a graduate of Brooklyn College and began her career in service in early childhood education at local settlement houses. She has been a member of the Whitestone Hebrew Centre since 1966, where she has served as Sisterhood President, Membership Vice-President, Fundraiser Vice-President, Treasurer and Torah Fund Co-Chair.
Mrs. Schneider has previously been honored for her service with the “Woman of Achievement Award” by the Whitestone Hebrew Centre and has been honored by the Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island Women’s League of Conservative Judaism.
