On Tuesday, July 29th, Senator Stewart-Cousins participated in the JCY-Westchester Community Partners Summer Reading Buddies Program by volunteering to read one-on-one with a 2nd grader at the Yonkers Library. The Summer Reading Buddies Program, which continues to grow every year, meets twice a week for six weeks in the Yonkers Riverfront Library and once a week at the Mount Vernon Public Library. Children work with our volunteers on their assigned summer reading projects while their parents attend workshops on life skills offered through partner organizations.
