A lovely and talented young woman, Miss Westchester 2014 Mayra Avila with the Senate resolution in her honor. She came to this country at age 4 from Ecuador, attended public school in Yonkers, graduated from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry and was the valedictorian of her graduate school class also at Mercy College. She teaches math in Ossining and is encouraging young girls to believe in themselves and their abilities. A wonderful role model who will next compete to be Miss New York.
