Honoring Gold Star Mothers
Catharine Young
September 26, 2014
This Sunday marks a very special day – Gold Star Mothers Day.
As part of our commitment to never forget the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting our freedoms, please remember to join our nation on Sunday in remembering the strength and sacrifice of its Gold Star Mothers.
Since 1936, Congress set aside the last Sunday in September to recognize the mothers of service members who have died while defending our country. By offering their love and support to fellow survivors, they continue to honor the ultimate sacrifice that their children made.
Gold Star Mothers Day provides us with an opportunity to recognize these mothers for the tremendous sacrifices that they too have made for our liberties and freedoms.
If you know a Gold Star Mother, please make a special effort to thank her this weekend. And let's remember to keep all of the families who have sons and daughters in harm's way in our thoughts and prayers throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Catharine M. Young
Senator, 57th District
