Remembering 9/11

Today, we remember all of those who perished 13 years ago in the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and Flight 93. Our thoughts especially turn to those who lost loved ones on that tragic morning and continue to live with the loss every day.
As we commemorate the lives of those lost and honor their memory, we continue to be inspired by the many amazing stories of sacrifice and love showed that day. So many brave individuals found themselves in the midst of the attacks and chose to put their own safety and well-being to the side in order to help others.
Countless firefighters, police officers, first responders, and people who simply showed up to work that fateful Tuesday morning saved innocent lives, many losing their own lives in the process.
May we never forget these heroes and their stories of selfless sacrifice in the face of such hatred and violence. One way we can honor them is by imitating their spirit of service and finding more ways to help others in our own lives and communities.
It is also important to remember that although September 11, 2001, is a day most of us will never forget, many of our children were not even been born yet and don’t remember that day. For them, and for anyone else who wants to learn more, I encourage you to visit www.nationalgeographic.com/remembering-9-11, where information about the events of 9/11 and the heroes we lost that day can be found.
Even better, I urge you to make a visit to the 9/11 Memorial in New York City if you can. At the very site of the attacks visitors can honor the victims and gain an even greater appreciation of what occurred that day and its continued significance in our world. Find more information about the memorial here: www.911memorial.org.
I sincerely thank you for joining me in remembering the heroes of 9/11 and honoring those lost.
Warmest regards,
