Visit the Fair This Summer

The local county fair is a proud and longstanding American tradition, and this summer there are a number of fairs in our area for you and your family to enjoy.

Rodeos, demolition derbies, monster truck shows, 4-H and FFA exhibits and shows, live music, rides and games, and truck and horse pulls are just some of the many attractions on offer.

Below is information on the dates and locations of the fairs in Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Livingston Counties, as well as the Great New York State Fair in Syracuse.

I know many of you are involved in the county fair year after year, and attending the local fair is an annual tradition. Some of you may even make the trip to Syracuse for the state fair every year.

For others, who may not have made it out to the fair in recent years, I encourage you to take the opportunity to attend a nearby fair this summer. You may be surprised by all there is for the whole family to see and do.

It's at the county fair that hardworking 4-H and FFA members and skilled local artisans, farmers, and craftsmen bring their prized animals and exhibits. Many prepare all year long in the hope of bringing home a coveted winner's ribbon.

At the fair, communities come together to enjoy and appreciate the agricultural traditions that so much of our country is built on. In our area, farming and agriculture will always hold a special place in our proud local heritage, and remains an irreplaceable part of our economy and culture to this day.

So this summer, get out and celebrate our national and local heritage with wholesome family fun at the county fair! You won't regret it.
