I wanted to update you on a few things you might find interesting.
I was able to direct funding to the Town of Cicero for a new, inclusive playground at Cicero's Central Park, which was completed this week. I joined town officials and local kids to officially cut the ribbon and open the playground.
An op-ed piece I co-authored with Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi from Utica about the need for Career and Technical Education pathways in K-12 education to address our growing middle skills gap ran in the Albany Times Union.
A bill I sponsored which would expand insurance coverage for equipment for those dealing with ostomies was signed into law by Governor Cuomo.
Is your blue and white NYS license plate peeling? If so, the DMV will replace it at no charge. I helped draw attention to this problem with 9WSYR.
Saturday (tomorrow) is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, where you can turn in your unused or expired medication for safe disposal from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Many collection sites are available statewide. To find one near you, search here.
As part of the package of legislation I co-sponsored in the Senate to deal with drug abuse, a new public awareness campaign to combat the scourge of heroin we are experiencing statewide was launched this week. Targeted toward parents, adults, and young people who are seeking help and information concerning heroin and opioid abuse and misuse, it includes a website, four public service announcements, and video messages.
Have a great weekend--enjoy the wonderful weather!
