State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) had the pleasure of meeting with Tom Rielly of Ballston Spa on March 18th when Mr. Rielly came to the Capitol to discuss the priority issues of the American Legion. He also discussed with Senator Farley the legislation to set aside certain State contracts for disabled veteran owned businesses.
Senator Farley is pleased to report back to Tom and other veterans that he co-sponsored the bill and it passed the Senate on March 24th. The “Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Business Act” is designed to help New York’s Service Disabled Veterans pursue successful new business ventures. A three-way agreement on the bill was announced during the Governor’s Veterans and Military Families Summit held last week in Albany.
This important new law will provide an enormous boost to our service disabled veterans, opening the door to major new business opportunities. It will also help send a loud and clear message that when New York’s servicemen and women return home, they will be welcomed with the promise of economic opportunity, Senator Farley said.
