August 30, 2014
State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C, I – Schenectady) had the pleasure of meeting baseball great Chuck Harmon on Aug. 30th at the Vintage Baseball Game in Gloversville.
Harmon played portions of two seasons for the minor league Johnstown-Gloversville Glovers of the Can-Am league, before eventually making into the majors with the Cincinnati Reds and becoming the first African-American player in Reds' history.
Senator Farley presented a New York State Citation for Harmon, as well as for Loren Stewart and Bradley “Babe” Baldwin for being inducted into the Fulton County Baseball and Hall of Fame.
