On July 28, 2014, at East Syracuse Village Hall, State Senator John A. DeFrancisco joined Jon Nappa of Bruin Recycling and Alice Kim of Time Warner Cable to present a $1,000 check to Flags and Flowers for the Veterans. The donation was generated through an electronics recycling event, held this past June in East Syracuse, that Senator DeFrancisco sponsored, along with Time Warner Cable and Bruin Recycling.

During this free community e-cycling event, hundreds of area residents dropped off their unwanted electronics, so Bruin Recycling could safely dispose of the hazardous materials, and subsequently donate a portion of the recycling proceeds to charity. Senator DeFrancisco designated Flags and Flowers for the Veterans as the charity, after learning it was formed by a local group of children to spruce up Veterans Memorial Park in East Syracuse.

“I am very proud of these children for taking the initiative to honor our local veterans,” said Senator DeFrancisco. “I would like to thank Bruin Recycling for its generous donation to this charity, as well as Time Warner Cable for helping to organize my second annual e-cycling event.”
