Senator Bonacic was a guest speaker at the dedication ceremonies to honor Lance Cpl. Scott A. Lynch of Greenwood Lake, killed in action in Afghanistan in October, 2010. The Senator presented the family with a NYS Senate Resolution, and a posthumous Liberty Medal which is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual by the NYS Senate. A memorial to LCPL Lynch was also unveiled at Greenwood Lake's American Legion Post #1443.
