Senator Kathy Marchione and Catholic Charities offer free, life-saving Narcan training

Senator Kathy Marchione (R,C-Halfmoon) and Catholic Charities today teamed up to offer the first of several free training sessions providing detailed instruction in the safe and proper use of life-saving Narcan (naloxone). The training was sponsored by Senator Marchione and Catholic Charities Care Coordination Services. Everyone attending one of the free Narcan training sessions (one was held this afternoon, another will be held this evening) received a free Narcan kit. Narcan is the same life-saving medicine that first responders use when treating an opioid overdose and has helped reverse approximately 10,000 heroin overdoses since 1996. 60 people attended this afternoon’s free Narcan training in Halfmoon and 77 people have RSVP’d for the evening’s training session. Future training sessions are scheduled for Brunswick (July 22) and Hudson (July 24).
