Indu Jaiswal is a Director of Nutrition Services at Promenade Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Rockaway Park, New York. Ms. Jaiswal also works in private practice as a Registered Dietitian/Certifi ed Nutritionist at Queens Medical Services and Madonna Heights School of SCO Services, helping adolescent girls, women and families.

Ms. Jaiswal founded the Indian American Forum (IAF) in 1995, and is its chairperson. IAF’s mission is to encourage the Asian Indian community’s participation in promoting local socio-cultural interactions through charitable and educational activities, thereby helping them become a part of mainstream American life. She truly believes that each person in the Indian American community is a true ambassador in promoting cultural, secular heritage and Indian values. Ms. Jaiswal is the recipient of several awards in the fi eld of nutrition services, diabetes education and community services. She received the Pride of India Award in India during Parvasi Diwas – non Resident Indian

Day – January 2012, in New Delhi, India. Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy of the Fourth District named Ms. Jaiswal Citizen of the Month in August 2000.

IAF hosts various activities in Long Island, including: Indian American Night, a concert series sponsored by the Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums which celebrates a showcase of classical Indian music and folk dances from all regions of India; the India Day Parade in Hicksville (Long Island); India Independence Day; the Outstanding Women’s Achievement Gala, which since 2010, has honored exemplary women from New York City and the Long Island area. Under her leadership, and only through the motivated and dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to make each activity a success, have these events been possible.

Ms. Jaiswal has served on the boards of several organizations, including: Stony Brook Center for India Studies, the Long Island Arts Council at Freeport, the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, the American Dietetic Association, the Long Island Dietetic Association, the American Diabetes Association and the Greater New York State Dietetic Association.

She is married to Sudhir and has two sons and two grandchildren.
