Following the March 31 passage of the State Budget, Mayor de Blasio has announced that more than 4,200 additional full-day pre-kindergarten seats will be available for the 2014-15 school year.
Children born in 2010 who live in New York City are eligible to apply. Enrollment for the seats has been extended to April 23. The Department of Education will notify families off placements in June. The state provided $1.5 billion over the next 5 years to fund universal pre kindergarten in New York City. By the 2015-16 school year, enrollment in a pre-k program will be available to each of the city’s 73,250 eligible students.
