Mayor de Blasio signed the bill reducing the city speed limit to 25 mph. The reduced limit, a portion of the larger Vision Zero policy to reduce New York traffic related fatalities, will go into effect November 7. Earlier this year Senator Dilan joined advocates in the push to lower city speed limits after the year began with reckless driving claiming a victim a day. After sponsoring several measures to give the city the ability to lower the limit, the bill passed the legislature and was signed into law by Gov. Cuomo this summer.
