Fire Prevention Week

Phil Boyle

October 7, 2014

October 7th is Annual Firefighter Appreciation Day and October 5th -11th is New York’s annual Fire Prevention Week. This is an important time to recognize all of the 100,000+ firefighters in New York State that put their lives on the line every day to protect our families, homes and communities. We also take this time to remember all of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, and we keep them in our prayers.

As a volunteer firefighter, I find it particularly important to always be prepared for an emergency. That is why I encourage all of my constituents to take this time to go over all fire safety tips and plans for their families in case of an emergency.

The National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) offers free safety tip sheets on a variety of fire and life safety topics. For a full list of all of their safety tips you can visit:

http://www.nfpa.org/safety-information/safety-tip-sheets

Don’t wait until it is too late to plan for an emergency. This Fire Prevention Week please take the time to check your fire detectors, go over a family plan and review all safety guidelines.

 Best Regards,

Senator Phil Boyle
