Job Description:
| Description: The Senior Web Designer / Developer will be responsible for the Design, code and implement editorial projects and sites while maintaining the latest coding best practices for CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. Write, modify and maintain CSS, HTML and JavaScript for Newsday editorial presentations, working closely with the interactive design staff, development staff and editors. Stays abreast of new trends and techniques and serves as a catalyst for continual improvement of editorial web presentations and processes. Establish and continually improve upon coding best practices for CSS, HTML and JavaScript. Continually design new and creative ways to present story visually. Lead creative projects from concept to execution, as assigned by Creative Manager. Create prototypes and wireframes. Design the graphics, site navigation, and layout of content for new products and sections. Demonstrate outstanding technical, artistic and computer graphics skills. Ensure exceptional quality by working with interactive, news and marketing staffs to meet highest standards for web design, user experience and speed. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Creative Design, Graphic Design or similar. Six years web design/development experience. Demonstrated excellence in large scale CSS, HTML, and JavaScript projects. Established proficiency using Adobe CS products. Experience with MAC and PC computers. Demonstrated success meeting multiple deadlines. Proven ability to work with customers, both internal and external. Excellent development, organizational and time management skills. Ability to stay current with new technology, i.e. design programs and coding best practices, as it relates to web design and production. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
