CareFirst receives proceeds from last fall's Electronics Recycling Event

Elmira, N.Y., January 16—CareFirst (formerly Southern Tier Hospice and Palliative Care) announced today that an Electronics Recycling Day held in Horseheads last October by State Senator Tom O’Mara (R,C-Big Flats), in partnership with Time Warner Cable and Sunnking Electronics Recycling, has delivered more than $500 to help support the organization’s programs and services.

"A donation of this magnitude will make a significant impact on the quality of life for the local patients we are so honored to serve," says Mary Mosteller-Arnold, Development Coordinator for CareFirst. 

The Electronics Recycling Day was held last October 17th at Grand Central Plaza in Horseheads.  

Hundreds of area residents dropped off more than 52,000 pounds of old or unused electronics, at no charge, with a portion of the proceeds, $525, from the day’s collection going to support CareFirst’s efforts to assist patients and families across the region. 

“I sincerely appreciate all of the many area residents and businesses who took the time participate in last October’s free recycling event. It’s a win-win for the local community.  Recycling computer monitors, laptops, televisions, cell phones and so much more keeps these items out of landfills and lightens our impact on the environment,” O’Mara said. “But I’m especially grateful to have the opportunity to help support CareFirst, a great regional health care group supporting seriously ill patients and their families."
